Dual Nature: Ends With Beginnings (5:30 PM)
The Arts Center Gallery
oin us in The Arts Center Gallery on Saturday, February 7 for a lively discussion with the artists at 5:30pm, followed by an opening reception filled with inspiring art, food & beer provided by Druthers Brewing Company, and the sonic sounds of DJ Paul Weil! Dual Nature: Ends With Beginnings brings together two artists who seek an understanding of the correlation between nature and humanity. Through exploration of various media and observation, the work of Gabe Brown and Andrea Hersh speaks to the similarities and differences between society and the world we inhabit; often pointing to the unknown, unseen and overlooked, while hinting that with every end there is a new beginning. DirtyWater 2 Dirty Water by Gabe Brown Gabe Brown explores a world beyond her own tangible reality. Through everyday events such as forces that drive water or the cellular structure of plant life, she begins to reinvent reality, deriving that the natural world is not unlike our own man-made realm. Her paintings aim to create a secret recipe for an inner landscape of the human condition: a parallel universe that questions the natural scheme of life. Gabe Brown received her BFA from Cooper Union and her MFA from the University of California, Davis. Her work has been exhibited at various galleries and museums, including the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, John Davis Gallery, Danette Koke Fine Art, and Kenise Barnes. In 2014, Brown was a recipient of the Sustainable Arts Foundation Award. She lives in Kingston, NY. Hersh Andrea 1 Sad Sack by Andrea Hersh Using fragments of dreams, fantasies, and moments in time, Andrea Hersh explores themes of vulnerability, desire, greed, and industry gone awry. Her inspiration began as a young mother, trying to make sense of the disposable world around her. Imagining mountains of refuse in landfills for millions of years and the post-human creatures that might inherit that world, her work balances the beauty she sees in nature with the ugliness of a disposable society. Andrea Hersh holds a BS in painting and drawing from Skidmore College and an MFA from the University at Albany. Her work has been widely exhibited, including the Flash Art Show in Milan, Italy, the Albany Institute of History and Art, Gallery Boreas, and the AAF Contemporary Art Fair. She lives in Slingerlands, NY.

Little Folks Concert with Matt Heaton (1:00 PM)
Caffe Lena
Matt Heaton performs in the well-known Irish music duo of Matt & Shannon Heaton. But before noon, he is a skilled entertainer for kids, with a repertoire of kid-friendly folk & surf-inspired originals and reworked classics. Like musicians before him, he took a keen interest in music for kids after the birth of his son, leading engaging sing-alongs that he hoped adults could enjoy too. Armed with a bundle of new and traditional material he organized a whole lot of extra babysitting and created his new CD, "Happy You Made It." "Happy" is a banquet of acoustic & electric guitars, toy drums & percussion, bouzouki, banjo & bodhran. The instruments share the stage in a lighthearted romp through twelve songs, a mix of originals and creative reworkings of standards.

Eric Paslay-Vapor Live (7:00 PM)
Vapor Night Club-Saratoga Casino and Raceway
Born in Abilene, Texas and raised in Waco and Temple. By the age of 16, Paslay had already written and recorded 10 songs that he played out around Texas. When Paslay moved to Nashville to pursue a music career, he eventually landed his own deal with the Cal IV in 2006. His songwriting and his impressive voice began garnering attention from labels and he signed with EMI Records Nashville. Paslay says he began writing songs because he wanted to sing them for people. "I turn it on when I get on stage. I love to entertain," says Paslay. Fans who have seen him on stage will testify there is so much more to the tall, Texas redhead than his excellent songwriting ability. Paslay is a charismatic performer and a potent vocalist who knows how to connect with an audience. As his hit singles "Friday Night" and "Song About A Girl" reach the upper level of the charts, Paslay has arrived as an artist in his own right.
